April 30, 2019: Sharpsburg, PA
The Aspinwall Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched on a first alarm assignment into Sharpsburg, PA for a working fire in a residential duplex structure in the 1800 Block of Cecil Street. 102 Engine 1 was tasked with establishing a water supply for 265 Engine which took the address. 102 Engine dropped 400 feet of 5 inch supply line from a nearby fire hydrant and supplied water to Sharpsburg’s fire engine. Sharpsburg fire crews advanced fire hoses to the seat of the fire in a second floor bedroom and quickly extinguished the fire. While Fire Chief Marsico was placed in charge of interior operations, Aspinwall firefighters assisted with placing ladders against the structure to make it safe for the firefighters operating within. Firefighters from neighboring departments were tasked with ventilation, overhaul and checking for fire extension.
Fire is under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshall’s Office.
We are glad and thankful to report that no firefighters were injured at this incident.
