ASPINWALL: June 4, 2019
The Aspinwall Volunteer Fire Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents today.
The first occurred during the morning rush hour. A contractor van over-turned on PA Route 28 Southbound, prior to the Highland Park Bridge split. The driver of the van self-extricated himself and was evaluated by FoxWall EMS. Aspinwall firefighters assisted state and local police with traffic control, scene safety and clean up to get the roadway fully open again.
In the evening the fire department’s rescue unit was dispatched to Power’s Run Road in O’Hara for a vehicle into the guardrail with the driver entrapped. Fire department crews stabilized the vehicle then removed the driver’s side doors, vehicle roof and performed a “dashboard lift” in order to provide medics from Parkview EMS patient access and extrication from the wrecked vehicle. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local trauma center for further care.
